You’ll watch penguins in their natural habitat and will enjoy an authentic farm experience learning about this land’s history.

-
You’ll learn all the stories of this remote land's first inhabitants and the first Europeans' adventures.

The lights of Ushuaia disappear as the ship turns into the narrow Murray Channel between Navarino and Hoste islands.

Cruise Chilean fjords between Cape Horn & Wulaia Bay
DAY
04
Around the break of dawn, the Australis cruise across Nassau Bay and enter the remote archipelago that comprises Cape Horn National Park. Weather and sea conditions permitting, you shall go ashore on the windswept island that harbors legendary Cape Horn (Cabo de Hornos).
Today’s highlight:
-
Explore the “End of the Earth” in the mythical Cape Horn, discovered in 1616 by a Dutch maritime expedition and the only navigation route between the Pacific and Atlantic for many years.
-
You’ll visit the Chilean Navy’s lighthouse on Cape Horn island and the modern Cape Horn Monument.
-
You’ll do a relaxed hike at Wulaia Bay, one of the region’s largest Yámana aboriginal settlements, described by Charles Darwin and sketched by Captain FitzRoy in the 1830s during their voyages on HMS Beagle.
-
View the fantastic views, dramatic geography, and the Magellanic forest full of lengas, coigües, canelos, and ferns.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with wines. Accommodation: Australis Cruise - External Cabin with views.
Pía Glacier - Garibaldi Glacier
DAY
05
In the morning, you will navigate the northwest arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark in Pia Fjord.
Today’s highlight: You’ll take a short hike to a lookout from where we can see Pia Glacier extending from the top of the mountain range down to the sea.

This morning’s highlight: you will disembark and leisurely walk around a lagoon formed by melting the Águila Glacier. You will reach a spot right before that glacier with stunning views.
Bonus: In the afternoon, while approaching the Condor Glacier via Zodiac -- expect to see some of the abundant Andean Condors in the area.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with wines. Accommodation: Australis Cruise - External Cabin with views.
Magdalena Island – Punta Arenas – Chile
DAY
07
After an overnight cruise through Magdalena Channel and back into the Strait of Magellan, the vessel will anchor off Magdalena Island, about halfway between Tierra del Fuego and the Chilean mainland.
Crowned by a distinctive lighthouse, the island used to be an essential source of supplies for navigators and explorers; it is also home to an immense colony of Magellanic penguins.
The highlight of the day: Weather permitting, you’ll go ashore and hike a path that leads through thousands of penguins to a small museum lodged inside the vintage 1902 lighthouse. In September and April -- when the penguins dwell elsewhere -- this excursion is replaced by a ride aboard Zodiacs to Marta Island to observe South American sea lions.
After a short cruise south along the strait, you will disembark at Punta Arenas around 11:30 AM. Our local representative will be waiting for you at the Port and will take you on an approximate 3 hour ½ drive to your accommodation in Torres del Paine, Chile.
Meals: Breakfast, boxed lunch, and dinner. Accommodation: Patagonia Camp, Torres del Paine National Park, all-inclusive.
Bonus! Accommodation in a Yurt in Patagonia, fully equipped with central heating, ensuite bathroom, and private balcony. A luxury surrounded by nature with all details taken care of.
