The seven natural wonders of Argentina, chosen by the people

Updated: Oct 20, 2021

Salinas Grandes, el Glaciar Perito Moreno, Talampaya y Nahuel Huapi National Park, Misionera Jungle, Mina Clavero River & el Bañado La Estrella are the seven natural wonders of Argentina chosen by the vote of the people.

The Iguazu Falls were chosen as one of the wonders of the world, for which they did not participate in this new particular election of Argentina.

The awards, which reach destinations distributed in eight provinces and three national parks, were announced by the organization 7 Maravillas Argentinas after six months and more than one million votes. This are the destinations:

Natural Wonders of Argentina: Salinas Grandes

in Jujuy, a salt desert of more than 210 square kilometers at about 3,600 meters above sea level.

Natural Wonders of Argentina: Perito Moreno Glacier

The Perito Moreno Glacier, in the National Park (PN) Los Glaciares, in Santa Cruz, the great mass of “living” ice of 32 kilometers and one of the most spectacular glaciers in the world.

Natural Wonders of Argentina: Talampaya National Park

The Talampaya NP, in the red desert of La Rioja, which in its 220,000 hectares contains archaeological, geological and natural resources, as well as unique geoforms and attractive landscapes, was the next nominated destination and adds this award to the World Heritage Site, which He was awarded Unesco in 2000. https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/966

Natural Wonders of Argentina: Misionera Jungle

It is one of the most bio-diverse ecoregions on the planet. Home of the yaguareté and the tatú cart, in its space live more than 400 species of birds that flood the foliage of giant trees.

Natural Wonders of Argentina: The Mina Clavero River

In the province of Córdoba, which crosses the town of the same name in the Traslasierra Valley, with its cold and healing waters that are born in the Pampa de Achala.

Natural Wonders of Argentina: Nahuel Huapi National Park – Neuquén / Río Negro

Humid and cold forests, eternal snows in its most iconic hills and a great variety of lakes, streams and rivers form an exceptional landscape, admired all over the world.

Natural Wonders of Argentina: Bañado La Estrella

The last, was the Bañado La Estrella, in Formosa, that although less diffused than other tourist destinations has great landscape and natural value, since with its 400,000 hectares it is the third wetland of South America, after El Pantanal (Brazil) and Esteros del Iberá, with the greatest variety of birdlife in the country and protected mammals such as the guava and the anteater.
