CULTURAL LIMA

The Experience: Lima is a city full of history. Lima’s folklore is very varied. The Department of Lima is “a small Peru” itself. In the city of Lima you can still find that quick wit, the grace in the “chascarro” (joke) and the fine irony; a light mood that we would say that do not take life seriously. Lima gave birth to the “criollismo” as a refined combination of the native and the Hispanic and has left its stamp in all activities. You can find creole music, creole politics and creole grace. All the Peruvian coast has been “acriollada”. Tasty meals and creole sweets are another distinctive folklore chapter, resulting in Lima’s typical restaurants, gardens and food sellers. The famous processions of the Lord of Miracles, popular fairs, pilgrimages to the cemetery, the national celebrations , the street vendors of everything you can imagine; make up a huge range of characters and limeños folk customs full of charm, spontaneity, colour and an intense energy that is part of the simple and everyday life. We invite you to discover it with your own eyes.
